Insurance.
We advise you to take out a holiday insurance which will cover you for accident, hospital cover and loss of luggage and personal
belongings.
Accidents can happen and it’s best to cover for the possibility ‘just in case’.
Arrival in
Bangkok
Visa.
We recommend you arrange Visa prior to leaving home by applying at your nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate. Visa however can be
requested and granted on arrival.
Priority service at immigration (Fast Track) both outward and inward is given to handicapped individuals, passengers travelling with
young children, and individuals over 70 years of age.
Visitors from certain countries may apply on line. See here https://thaievisa.go.th
This link will take you to the Immigration Thai e-visa page where you can find out if you may apply for e-visa.
Visa Exemption for UK Citizens
UK passport holders may travel to Thailand without a visa as long as it is for the purpose of tourism. They may stay for a maximum of
30 days through the Visa Exemption Program. You may extend your permit to stay for a further 30 days at any local immigration office.
If you need to stay in Thailand longer than the Visa Exemption or are travelling for a purpose other than tourism, Siam Legal

This site also gives flight details to and from the six International airports in Thailand, namely Suvarnabhumi, Don Muang, Phuket,
Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Chang Rai.
Getting to your hotel
If you have booked a hotel in Bangkok and you arriving at Suvarnabhumi or Don Muang airport, there is a ticket queuing system for
taxis. You will pay what is on the meter plus 25 Baht service fee and any motorway tolls.
Most reputable hotels offer a car, limo or taxi service from the airports.
One problem with Thailand taxis is that the majority or them have a fuel (gas) tank in the boot, so there is very limited room for
luggage and it may be difficult to fit in more than 2 people comfortably perhaps with bags on their laps which is not a comfortable way
to travel.
There are bigger taxis such as Toyota Innova and Toyota Fortuner.
You should tell the airport employee that you need a bigger taxi and they will allocate one to you.
Thai Airports Authority offer a limousine service, but you will encounter the same problem with most of their limousine models such as
Nissan, Honda and Toyota which also have fuel tanks in the boot. You can however ask for their 4 wheel drive diesel Isuzu model which
has more luggage space and you can travel comfortably.
The Isuzu will cost you around 1700 Baht - 2000 Baht for a ride to your Bangkok hotel. There are booking desks operated by AOT
(Airport Authorities of Thailand), but you can book on line before you arrive saving time overall.
The website for AOT limousine service is https://www.aot-limousine.com/.
You may book a limo by sending email to callcenter@aot-limousine.com
Just give your name, flight number and date and time of arrival and where you want to go to.
AOT will confirm by return and send you a slip with price confirmation. Once you have cleared Immigration and Customs, you can go to
one of the several AOT counters and show your voucher to arrange for the car to take you.
Beware of pirate operators offering taxi services from the airports. They are likely to charge you more than the normal price
and the quality of their vehicles can be sub standard. Always use the AOT official services on offer and it’s best to book before
you come.
Using Thailand domestic air services.
Most airports in Thailand operate taxi and car hire services, but for car hire we recommend you book on line in advance.
You can of course ask your hotel to arrange transport from the airport to your hotel which is probably the best solution. At least you
know what it will cost you before you arrive so you won’t risk being ripped off by an un-reputable taxi operator.
Chiang Mai airport has a fleet of Toyota Fortuner taxis which have sufficient space for 4 passengers with
luggage.
There is a booking window to the left after you enter the meet and greet area after the baggage collection.
Other international airports in Thailand apart from Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi are Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Had Yai. Krabi,
Samui, Surat Thani, Udon Thani and U-Tapao.

Phanom, Roi Et, Nan, Sakon Nakhon, Buriram, Lampang, Loei, Narathiwat, Ranong, Mae Sot, Trat, Chumphon, and Sukhothai.
PLEASE NOTE:
