A SELECTION OF THAI DISHES

It may be that you are not accustomed to spicy food, but don’t worry about that as there are also many Thai people who can’t take it too

spicy. You just have to tell the serving staff “not spicy please” or in Thai “ Mai aow phet”.

If you can’t take spicy at all, then safe dishes for you would be:-

Khao phat gai - fried rice with chicken.

Khao phat moo - fried rice with pork.

Khao phat goong - fried rice with prawns.

Khao phat boo - fried rice with crab meat

Gai yang khao neeow - barbecued chicken with sticky rice.

The restaurant may suggest other non spicy dishes.

If you are missing your local grub from home, there is a plethora of restaurants serving food from all over the world. Brits can even find

fish‘n chips and pub food. Many Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean restaurants can be found.

The Thai eateries are countless, from street food to various levels of restaurants.

We suggest you exercise caution about eating street food. Many visitors don’t have the same constitution as the locals and a possible lack

of cleanliness in the food or the dishes and or eating utensils could give you a severe touch of Bangkok belly resulting in sickness or

spending a great deal of valuable holiday time paying urgent visits to the loo.

Also, don’t overdo it on the exotic fruits which could also give upset tummies.

Most of the Thai Pharmacies will have something to help cure these ailments including Immodium. Most staff at pharmacies

speak English.

Perhaps a safer venue for eating simple local food would be in a food court. Most of the big stores and shopping malls have a food court

where you can have a Thai dish for less than 150 Baht.
